A particularly revealing line of prom dresses caused quite a stir earlier this week as many parents rushed to prevent their daughters from buying the ultra sexy gowns, (and their teenage sons from enjoying them!) The front of the best-selling prom dress consist of little more than a narrow strap of material. Even the owner of the company that makes the slinky little numbers admitted that he wouldn't let his teenage daughter out of the house wearing one!
Skimpy prom dresses too sexy for parents
Photo 1: If you think these skimpy prom dresses are too sexy for the average teen, you should see the strapless version!
Photo 2: The guys here at the Gag Report think these prom dresses looks even better from behind, but we have to admit that none of us have teenage daughters!
Nick Yeh, the owner of Xcite, the Texas company that makes the sexy prom dresses, spoke to reporters on Wednesday. "I was shocked when I first saw it, but now it's one of our top 20 dresses nationwide," he admitted. "I have a 15-year-old daughter and, no, I would not recommend she wear this dress."
But with the profits rolling in from the best-seller that retails at $495 per dress, it appears that Mr. Yeh doesn't mind if anyone else's daughter wants to dress up like a filthy trollop. (Why is it always the clothes that use the least material are always the most expensive?)
But even if these Janet Jackson wannabe's can somehow persuade their parent to cough up the dough, they may still have a hard time getting through the prom door particularly here in New York City.
Lisa Maffei-Fuentes, principal of Christopher Columbus High School in The Bronx, told reporters that she personally examines every teenage girl very closely as they arrive at the prom paying particular attention to the amount of cleavage they reveal. (How do people get these sweet jobs?)
Students who saw pictures of the slinky prom dress were quick to point out some basic short-comings of the provocative little number. Most of the students we spoke to were primarily concerned with practicalities. "You couldn't dance in that dress - actually, you couldn't do anything at all," says junior Vivian Healey. (Well, that's not exactly true. There are a couple of things that immediately sprang to our minds!)
One particularly bright student pointed out a fact that many people fail to consider before splashing out on sexy clothing. "This dress would look great at a prom if the model in the picture wore it," says senior Vlaz Ermant, "but we don't have any girls like that at our school."
(Wow! This kid is bright. He obviously has a good head on his shoulders - even if the chicks at his high school don't!)
